- Description
Winery Domaine Antoine Jobard Domaine Antoine Jobard is one of the most respected producers of white Burgundy in Meursault. After working alongside his father for several years, Antoine has officially been in charge of this prestigious estate since 2007. Although Francois has been enjoying his retirement for some years now, he can still be found in the vineyards and cellar almost daily to assist his son. With Antoine's arrival, the style of the wines has changed slightly. Through a few small changes during winemaking, they have become more accessible and refined, without losing character. Antoine prefers to work with finer lees than his father. Furthermore, he bottles the wine in April/May of the second year following the harvest. These are just details, but the quality of the wines has risen even further as a result. The estate is known for its pure, precise, and terroir-driven style, in which tension and minerality take center stage. Jobard wines are known for their tight structure and excellent aging potential. In contrast to the richer and buttery styles of Meursault, he opts for finesse, freshness, and energy, allowing his wines to often age beautifully and become even more complex with age. 2023 Domaine Antoine Jobard Meursault Village The Meursault Village 2023 is a blend of seven different lieux-dits within the appellation. This combination results in a balanced wine in which both structure and finesse come together. The 2023 vintage is characterized by ripe fruit combined with fresh acidity and distinct minerality. Despite the warm conditions during the harvest, where the grapes were harvested quickly and carefully in the morning, they remained healthy and pure. This results in a wine with energy, precision, and a beautiful balance between ripeness and freshness. Vinification and aging Vinification is carried out with minimal intervention to preserve the character of the grapes and the terroir. The wine ages partly in barrels and partly in stainless steel, ensuring a beautiful balance between structure and freshness. This approach underscores Jobard's style, where elegance and tension are more important than power or oak influence. Color, smell and taste Light golden yellow in color. On the nose, fresh and refined aromas of citrus, white flowers, and subtle mineral notes, with light hints of moss and undergrowth that slowly develop. On the palate, crisp and energetic with a beautiful balance between freshness and ripe fruit. Notes of apricot and peach peel are supported by lively acidity and distinct minerality. The finish is elegant, slightly saline, and long. Style and aging potential The 2023 Meursault Village is a wine that possesses charm even when young due to its fresh and open character, but which also ages beautifully thanks to its structure and balance. Expect further development of complexity and depth over the next 10 to 15 years.
