- Description
Delicious and versatile Weissburgunder. This wine is a beautiful light yellow color and has aromas of yellow and green apple and peach on the nose, along with a light buttery note and spiciness. On the palate, this white wine is round and soft. The wine has a good body and lovely freshness. Long, mineral finish. This Weissburgunder vom Löss is produced by the authentic Franz Keller winery from the Kaiserstuhl area, part of the Baden wine region. The Kaiserstuhl is the warmest and sunniest wine region in Germany and is characterized by volcanic soils covered with fertile high loess deposits that offer excellent viticultural conditions for what they call the Burgundersorten in Germany, such as Weissburgunder, Grauburgunder, Chardonnay, and Spätburgunder. Franz Keller – Schwarzer Adler is a gastronomic institution in Baden and, indeed, in the rest of Germany. The company consists of a wine estate, wine import, wine merchant, hotel, and no fewer than three restaurants. The company is run by Fritz Keller, and his son Friedrich is primarily involved in winemaking. The name Franz Keller stands for dry, refreshing, fruity, but also complex and mineral-driven powerful wines. The wines are always of excellent, impeccable quality and enjoy great appreciation in Germany and far beyond. The winery considers it of great importance that the terroir, origin, and character of the wine are reflected in the taste. The approach to winemaking is inspired by the wines and the "savoir-vivre" of their French neighbors. From the very beginning, the goal of this winery has been to produce wines that are the perfect complement to good food. This wine is an excellent accompaniment to (light) fish dishes and flammkuchen (an authentic dish from Baden: a base of thin bread dough topped with crème fraîche, onions, and strips of bacon, baked in a (wood-fired) oven)
