- Description
Probably the most famous rosé internationally. Named the best rosé producer in the world by the renowned magazine “Decanter”. The estate comprises 53 hectares, of which only 40 are planted with vineyards. The estate is ideally situated on a slate terrace that slopes down towards the Mediterranean Sea near Brégançon. The estate dates back to the 18th century and has been owned by the Ott family since 1936. Château Romassan is situated near the village of Le Castellet. The château is dominated by the picturesque little chapel that has watched over the estate in Bandol for nearly three centuries. Since 1956, the wines of Château Romassan have benefited from the enthusiasm and obsession with perfection of the Ott family. They work here without the use of pesticides or artificial fertilizers. The grapes are hand-picked and rigorously selected upon arrival in the cellars. This is followed by slow fermentation. The wine ages for at least 8 months in oak barrels, giving it a full-bodied, slightly spicy, and stylish taste. Any comparison with any other wine falls short; Montaigne knew that already. The wine is light pink in color. On the nose, very fine notes of citrus fruits, as well as very fresh hints of licorice. Once the wine has been swirled briefly, fragrant white flowers also develop on the nose. On the palate, there is a very good balance between freshness and liveliness. It can be drunk now but can also be aged for five years without any problems, and that is what makes Ott wines so unique. This rosé version is the rarity of all the rosés that Domaine Ott brings to the market. Uniquely refined
