2021 Château Montrose Saint-Estèphe Grand Cru Classé Jeroboam (3 liter)

The result of rigorous selection at every stage of production, in both the vineyard and the winery, this great, predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon wine is typical of the Saint-Estèphe appellation. Structured and tannic, yet with all the elegance and refinement of a Grand Cru Classé. Over time, the wine develops a delicate and complex bouquet. Composed of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and a dash of 1% Petit Verdot, this Grand Cru represents 37% of the estate's total production. Deep garnet purple in colour, the nose takes some time to unfold before revealing an impressively flamboyant core of black cherry preserves, warm cassis and baked plums with hints of redcurrant jelly, dark chocolate, liquorice, cardamom plus a gentle touch of candied violets. Medium to full bodied, the palate has fantastic intensity with a very elegant, modest weight, with super ripe, fine grained tannins and tons of freshness to open up a stunning array of beautiful black fruit. This is an incredibly stylish, balanced and refined Montrose and it comes in a fantastic 3 litre double magnum in a handsome wooden case. Even better and with a longer drinking window.
