Joseph Drouhin was a daring and enterprising young man from the Chablis region. In 1880, at the age of 22, he settled in Beaune and founded his own winery there. His aim was to offer high-quality wines that would bear his name. With almost 90 different appellations, Joseph Drouhin offers a fascinating range of Burgundian terroirs in all their authenticity and subtle variations. Joseph Drouhin has adopted the organic and biodynamic approach. Only natural products are used in the vineyards and all procedures show the utmost respect for the soil, the vine and the environment. Joseph Drouhin's style is an alliance of character, balance and harmony. Wines intended to be drunk young are fresh and subtle; those intended to be kept acquire a sumptuous complexity with age. The Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2019 comes from east-facing vineyards in Les Languettes, a small production of six barrels. It has a closed and stubborn backward bouquet that is overshadowed by the Clos des Mouches Blanc. The firm taste delivers good acidity and notes of orange peel and light peach tones, quite pure, and a spicy salty ginger finish.
