2020 Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion

This 6.4 Ha domain on top terroir with Haut-Brion as neighbour has made enormous quality steps in recent years. The castle, contemporary renovated by Patrice Pichet with winemaker Stéphande Derenoncourt, is considered by insiders to be among the top of Pessac-Léognan. The 2020 Les Carmes Haut-Brion is one of the highlights of the 2020 vintage. All elements in the wine are so harmoniously combined that nothing stands out. The 2020 is the first modern vintage in which everything is perfectly balanced. Dark red/purple fruit, rose petals, mint, lavender, dried herbs and incense together build an enchanting Pessac-Léognan that takes your breath away. The blend consists of 40% Cabernet Franc, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon and 26% Merlot. 55% whole bunches were used. The vinification lasted five weeks, with very gentle extraction, without pumping over or immersing the skins (punchdowns).
