Les Fiefs de Lagrange 2024 Saint-Julien Les Fiefs de Lagrange is the second wine of the renowned Château Lagrange, located in the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation. The grapes come from 30-year-old vines on the estate's characteristic gravel and clay-limestone soils, where the climate is temperate with ocean temperatures. The vineyards are situated on north-south oriented slopes that ensure optimal sun exposure and drainage – essential for ripe, balanced grapes in a challenging year like 2024. Grapes and blend of the Les Fiefs 2024 The 2024 Les Fiefs de Lagrange blend consists of 47% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Sauvignon, and a striking 12% Petit Verdot – an unusually high proportion that lends this vintage extra color, spiciness, and structure. The harvest took place from September 24 to October 8, entirely by hand-picking and rigorous selection, first at the cluster level and then grape by grape using optical sorting. Vinification and aging Each plot was vinified separately in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Fermentation took place traditionally between 26 and 28°C, using gentle extraction techniques such as pigeage and delestage. After malolactic fermentation, the wine was aged for 13 months in French oak barrels, 20% of which were new, to preserve the fruity character while simultaneously adding refinement. 2024 Les Fiefs de Lagrange Tasting Note Les Fiefs de Lagrange 2024 is an accessible, expressive Saint-Julien with a seductive bouquet of black cherry, liquorice, and pepper. On the palate, it presents itself smoothly and harmoniously, with ripe tannins and a beautiful balance between fruit, spices, and freshness.
