The Luigi Baudana Barolo Cerretta is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes from 40-year-old vines of many different clones, resulting in a wine with depth and soul—a direct reflection of Luigi Baudana's lifelong work. It's an austere and highly mineral expression of Barolo. Aromas of dark cherry and raspberry burst vibrantly from the glass. Hints of iron, menthol, and new leather contribute to the depth and intrigue of this wine. Refined and polished, the Cerretta boasts an extra layer of tannins, substantial structure, and vibrant acidity almost buried by its exquisitely lush fruit. Luigi and Fiorina Baudani are local legends of the Serralunga region and have been actively growing grapes for over 30 years. In 2009, G.D. Vajra was given the responsibility of producing wines from these grapes and expanding the Baudani family legacy. Luigi Baudana stands out as one of the smallest boutique wineries in Serralunga d'Alba and the wider Barolo region. Spanning just 2.6 hectares, they focus on quality, not quantity, and their vineyard selection is unparalleled, featuring vineyards in the village's prime crus. They are truly the epitome of a garagiste producer! The 2020 Barolo Cerretta is a remarkably complete wine in this vintage. Deep and layered, yet in the medium-bodied style of the year, the 2020 impresses with its balance and overall harmony.
