2022 Château Montrose La Dame de Montrose Saint-Estèphe Jeroboam (3 liter)

La Dame de Montrose, made to the same exacting standards as the Ferieste wine, from grapes grown in the same vineyard, is the estate's second label. The supple and silky Merlot generally predominates in the varietal blend. The very pronounced aromas and flavors of red fruit reflect another expression of the terroir in a distinctive style. Consistently reliable and quick-ripening, the wine was created in 1983 as a tribute to Yvonne Charmolüe, who ran Château Montrose single-handedly from 1944 to 1960. Production varies from year to year but accounts for an average of 40 to 45% of the total production from the Montrose vineyard. It is aged for 12 months in 30% new French oak barrels. The 2022 La Dame de Montrose is a blend of 71% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot, and 1% Cabernet Franc. La Dame is Château Montrose's second wine and has a fragrant, floral, and pure bouquet with notes of black cherries, blueberries, and violets. On the palate, the wine is well-balanced with a more opulent texture than its Saint Estèphes counterpart, thanks to the lush Merlot at its heart. It has commendable energy and is already very approachable, requiring no decades in the cellar to reach its full potential. This is a rare double magnum (3 litre) version in OWC/1 - Even tastier, more festive and with a longer drinking window. FACT: It's worth mentioning that we buy our (Bordeaux) wines directly and never through intermediaries, as we don't know all the journeys the wine has made or how it's been treated. The wines are delivered directly from the Chateau's cellars to our climate-controlled warehouse in Dordrecht, where all our wines are stored.
