- Description
The 18th-century Provençal house is situated at the foot of Mont Ventoux. The current owners, Frédéric Chaudière and his brother Alexandre (winemaker), jointly run Château Pesquié. 72 hectares of vineyards are cultivated organically around the commune of Mormoiron. Thanks in part to the unique location, the varied soil, and the right grape varieties, top-quality wines are produced here. Both brothers are currently regarded as pioneers in the Ventoux region, a fact underscored by their numerous awards in the international wine press. This stunning wine, made from Syrah (80%) and Grenache (20%), is produced only in the best years and comes from terraced vineyards on south-facing slopes in the northern part of the appellation. The vines are on average over 50 years old. The wine is aged for 12 months in wooden barrels (50% new French oak and 50% one to two years old). The Quintessence is (even) fuller and more intense than the Terrasses Rouge. It has a bright, deep red color with aromas of raspberries (Grenache), licorice, leather, tobacco, and peppery spices. A hint of eucalyptus is very pleasant. The palate is soft, full of ripe black cherries and extremely elegant. The finish is exceptionally long and powerful. What richness! Quintessence is a top-class wine from Chateau Pesquié
