The Kilikanoon Baudinet GSM is named after Bruce Baudinet, a partner in Kilikanoon Wines and owner of a vineyard from which the Mataro and Shiraz for the blend are selected. This multi-award winning wine is made in the image of a classic blend from the south of the Rhône, the three varieties coming together with enormous synergy, balance and complexity. The wine is a blend of Grenache (50%), Shiraz (30%), Mataro (=Mourvedre/Monastrellen 20%) and matures for 14 months in French oak. In the glass, the Kilikanoon Baudinet has an intense garnet red color with a purple tint. On the nose, the Buadinet a GSM has complex notes of blackberries, plums and herbs with hints of tanned leather and fresh lavender. The palate is concentrated and seamless with red plum, cherry and blackberry all coming together. A savory, spicy backbone of subtle smoke and tar floats through silky, soft tannins to a long, generous and expressive finish. A wine that continues to evolve in the glass during aeration.
