From 2018, there is a beautiful third wine from Château Ducru-Beaucaillou coming from the vineyards of Château Ducru-Beaucaillou. This new wine comes from the grapes of the vineyards owned by Bruno Borie's family in Saint Julien. It is a worthy replacement for Château Lalande Borie, which is no longer on the market and for which Le Petit Ducru takes its place. The intention is that it is a first approach to the qualities of the two great wines "La Croix de Beaucaillou" and "Château Ducru Beaucaillou". There is a family bond, a kind of agreement between these three nectars. They have the following in common: a rigorous technique, a drastic selection and a demanding vinification. This wine matures for 12 months in 1/3 new oak barrels. It shines with its fine structure, its complexity within a beautiful balance and has a lot of elegance in the fruit. In the glass, the Petit Ducru has a beautiful dark ruby red color. In the nose, mainly fresh red fruit, herbs and some cedar and leather. In the mouth, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deliciously juicy and a good structure. It is a very nice example of how this Petitg Ducru Saint Julien combines a certain power with lots of fruit, elegance and finesse. In its younger years, decant and give air is our advice.
