The château, renovated in a contemporary style by Patrice Pichet with winemaker Stéphande Derenoncourt, is considered by insiders to be among the elite of Pessac-Léognan. Seamless and silky smooth in the glass, with excellent balance – the 2024 Les Carmes Haut-Brion belongs to the absolute top of the vintage. All elements are beautifully balanced, always a sign of an exceptional vintage at this estate. Floral notes, spices, leather, and mocha flow into a layered and refined core profile of dark red fruit with impressive length. The harvest took place between September 17 and 25, during one of the rare dry periods. As usual, a high percentage of whole grape clusters was used (52%): 100% for Cabernet Franc, 50% for Merlot, and 20% for Cabernet Sauvignon. Aging takes place in 70% new oak, 19% in 18-hectoliter foudres, and 11% in amphoras. The new wood is already beautifully integrated – further proof of an exceptional vintage.
