QUELLA is the name for the wine from a 9-hectare, primarily wooded estate nestled in the eastern hills overlooking the heart of Napa Valley. The wine debuted with the 2006 vintage and is derived from the German word for a pristine spring or artesian aquifer. The vineyard slopes steeply to the southwest. It is essentially an old riverbed composed of cobblestones and rocks interwoven with pockets of tuff (volcanic ash) uplifted during the last volcanic activity in the area. BOND's Cabernet Sauvignon wines, sourced from select hilltop estates, vividly showcase the breadth of Napa Valley's finest terroirs. From the more than eighty vineyards they have cultivated over the past quarter-century, five sites have been carefully and carefully selected to produce only the finest expressions of the land, and these have become Napa Valley's true Grand Crus. Bond wines excel in beauty and aging potential. The small hilltop Cabernet vineyards, ranging in size from 7 to 11 hectares, are the foundation for BOND's iconic wines. The very limited quantity and the fact that approximately 85% of the wines remain within the United States make these wines extremely scarce in Europe. Bond is owned by the equally iconic winery Harlan Estate—the Mouton Rothschild of Napa Valley, so to speak. The Bond Quella has a deep garnet-purple color and opens with the most beautiful perfume of violets, red and black plums, Morello cherries, and cassis, plus hints of iron ore and crushed stone. The medium-to-full palate delivers wonderful energy and tension, framed by fine-grained tannins and a finish of beautiful purity. All Bond bottles are secured with an identification number, which you can check using a verification system. This ensures you're dealing with a genuine Bond (there are more fakes than real Bond and Harlan on the market) and a bottle that hasn't been floating around the world in questionable circumstances.
