  • Description
Winery Château Musar Château Musar is one of the Middle East's most iconic wineries and a true cult producer in the wine world. Located in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley, the estate was founded in 1930 by Gaston Hochar. Under the leadership of Serge Hochar, the winery gained international recognition for its unique style and ability to produce great wines, often under challenging conditions. Château Musar is known for its wines, which have a distinctive character and mature beautifully in the bottle, often for decades. 2019 Château Musar Bekaa Valley Rouge Magnum Château Musar's red wine is one of the most recognizable blends from the Bekaa Valley. It is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault, and Carignan grapes from old, high-altitude vineyards. Thanks to the dry climate and the wide temperature range between day and night, the grapes can ripen optimally while retaining their freshness. Musar wines are known for their unique combination of ripe fruit, spice, and earthy complexity. Vineyards and vinification The vineyards are located at an altitude of approximately 1,000 meters in the Bekaa Valley, where chalky soils and a Mediterranean climate provide ideal conditions for viticulture. The grapes are vinified separately, and the wine is traditionally aged for several years in French oak barrels before being blended and further bottle-aged. This long aging is an essential element of Château Musar's style, creating complexity and elegance. Color, smell and taste The wine has a deep ruby red color. The nose opens with complex aromas of ripe cherries, blackcurrants, and plums, complemented by spicy notes, leather, tobacco, and subtle earthy nuances. As the wine matures, hints of dried herbs, spices, and Mediterranean garrigue also emerge. The palate is full and layered, with a beautiful balance of ripe fruit, fresh acidity, and soft tannins. The structure is elegant yet firm enough to allow for further aging. The finish is long and complex, with notes of red fruit, spices, and a slightly earthy undertone typical of the Château Musar style. The 2019 vintage The 2019 vintage in the Bekaa Valley yielded healthy grapes with a good balance of ripeness and freshness. The wine therefore combines concentration with elegance and has the potential to develop further in the bottle for years to come. As with many Château Musar wines, its complexity will only increase with age. Storage capacity Château Musar is known for its exceptional aging potential. The 2019 vintage can be enjoyed young, but will develop further and gain complexity with bottle aging. Larger sizes, such as magnums, also age more slowly, giving the wine even greater aging potential.
