2021 Château Montrose Saint-Estèphe Grand Cru Classé

The result of a rigorous selection at every stage of production, in both the vineyard and the winery, this great, mainly Cabernet Sauvignon wine is typical of the Saint-Estèphe appellation. Structured and with tannins, but with all the elegance and refinement of a Grand Cru Classé. Over time the wine develops a delicate and complex bouquet. Composed of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and a dash of 1% Petit Verdot. This grandcru represents 37% of the estate's total production. Deep garnet purple in colour, the nose takes some time to unfold before revealing an impressively flamboyant core of black cherry preserves, warm cassis and baked plums with hints of red currant jelly, dark chocolate, licorice, cardamom plus a gentle hint of candied violets. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has fantastic intensity with a very elegant, modest weight, with super ripe, fine-grained tannins and tons of freshness to a stunning array of beautiful black fruits. This is an incredibly stylish, balanced and sophisticated Montrose! FACT: It is worth mentioning that we purchase the (Bordeaux) wines directly and never purchase them through intermediaries because we do not know which journeys the wine has made and how it has been treated.
