Biondi Santi is one of the most famous producers of Brunello wine. Biondi Santi has been one of the leading wine producers in Tuscany for over 150 years and is considered the "Founder of Brunello di Montalcino". Due to the microclimate and the geological development of this area over the years, the hills around Montalcino are one of the oldest and most perfect areas of Italy to make beautiful quality wines. In the 16th century, Montalcino was already famous for its wonderfully beautiful wines. However, Montalcino only became really famous after Brunello was made. This happened for the first time in 1888. The first Brunello wines were made by Ferruccio Biondi Santi. He further developed the work of his grandfather Clemente Santi, one of the most leading winemakers of that time. He developed a clone of the Sangiovese grape, called Sangiovese Grosso. This new grape was developed in the vineyard called "Greppo". In the cellars of Biondi Santi, Brunello wines from 1888 can still be found. In September 1994, a large group of wine journalists were invited to taste the "old but so beautifully matured" wines from the cellars of the estate. Even the Brunello from 1891 (103 years old) was rated with 100 points, the highest rating. The 2015 Biondi-Santi Brunello di Montalcino Riserva comes in numbered bottles and is produced exclusively in excellent years and is known for its long aging potential. 2015 was known to connoisseurs as an absolute top year and this is also supported by the (very) high ratings Colour : Intense ruby ​​red.
