The 2022 Vie di Romans Friuli Isonzo Sauvignon Blanc "Piere" is a refined white wine from the Friuli Isonzo DOC region in northeastern Italy, produced by the renowned Vie di Romans winery. Made exclusively from Sauvignon Blanc grapes, this wine reflects the region's unique terroir. The grapes for "Piere" come from the eponymous vineyard, located in Mariano del Friuli. The soil consists primarily of siliceous and calcareous layers, which contribute to the wine's minerality and complexity. The climate, with warm days and cool nights, promotes optimal ripening of the grapes. After hand-harvesting, the grapes are carefully selected. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures between 16-19°C for 14-18 days. The wine is then aged for eight months "sur lie" in stainless steel tanks, which contributes to its texture. The 2022 "Piere" Sauvignon Blanc opens with a bright bouquet of tropical flowers and a hint of jalapeño pepper. On the palate, the wine presents vibrant acidity with notes of grapefruit, lime, and subtle mineral nuances. The texture is rich, and the finish is refreshing and long-lasting.
