2022 Travaglini Gattinara

Gattinara DOCG This Nebbiolo from the cool region near the Alps offers a refined, almost Burgundy-like style. The Gattinara DOCG 2021 embodies the essence of the terroir and the unique style of Gattinara. The grapes for this wine come from various plots located on south- to southwest-facing slopes between 350 and 400 meters in altitude. The cool nights and volcanic soil give the wine a refined, mineral character with refreshing acidity. Vinification and Aging After the harvest, the grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks. Subsequently, the wine ages for 30 months in large, traditional Slavonian oak barrels. This process results in a very refined nose with aromas of juicy red cherries, roses, violets, and subtle spicy notes, with minerality and a hint of licorice in the background. The taste is elegant and delicate, with small red fruits, flowers, fine acidity, and ripe tannins. The wine is bottled in the bottle specially designed by Giancarlo Travaglini. Olfactory: Soft floral aromas, ranging from violets to rose petals, with spicy and balsamic notes developing. The finish offers mineral and iron notes.
