- Description
Bürklin-Wolf owns vineyards in the most famous “Lagen” of the Mittelhaardt. The company owns vineyards in several Lagen (vineyards) in the towns of Forst, Deidesheim, Ruppertsberg and Wachenheim. For the classification of dry Riesling wines, Bürklin-Wolf uses the Burgundian model of the quality pyramid. In this model, the terroir, yield and maturity of the grapes are taken into account, so Grand Cru (GC) and Premier Cru are used. Bürklin-Wolf is a member of the VDP (Verband Deutscher Prädikats- und Qualitätsweingüter) but nevertheless does not use the term Grosses Gewächs. the dr. Bürklin-Wolf Ruppertsberger Hoheburg Premier Cru Riesling comes from the 20-hectare prime location of Ruppertsberg and takes its name from a town from the 14th century. The share of Dr. Bürklin-Wolf is 4.68 ha and this plot is located at the foot of the Mittelhaard and benefits from the favorable microclimatic advantages. White, overlying Buntsandstein ensures an optimal heat balance. The Riesling grapes ferment with spontaneous fermentation (ie with the yeasts naturally present on the grapes) and the wine in large oak barrels on its yeasts (sur lie) until bottling. Adjacent to the Gaisböhl, this Hoheburg has a powerful fruit and creaminess. At the same time she impresses with her deep minerality and juiciness. The wine opens with a somewhat wild but pure and exciting bouquet of crushed stone and rather floral Riesling aromas. Lush and round in the mouth, this is a charmingly fruity, refined and elegant dry Riesling with a salt-crystalline and stimulating spicy finish. This is an expressive top Riesling
