2023 Emilio Moro Bestizo

Bestizo was created in 2024. Bestizo is the bridge that connects stories, bridges distances and is a meeting point. It is the first red wine from Bodegas Emilio Moro from El Bierzo and is actually a logical continuation of the white Godello wines from Emilio Moro from Bierzo (Polvorete, Zarzal and Revelia). The name Bestizo was chosen to make it clear that Emilio Moro is increasingly 'bercianos' (inhabitant of El Bierzo). The Mencia vineyard comes from the DO: El Bierzo in the town of Villafranca del Bierzo located on a soil of granite, with schist and slate. The Mencia is rightly very much on the rise - It has very 'Burgundian' features with beautiful acids, red fruit, firmness and elegance, but all that at a completely different (read: lower) price. The Mencia grapes are fermented for 7 days in 25,000L tanks with a maceration of 12 days. It is produced with a submerged cap, without pumping over. It undergoes malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks and then matures for 8 months in 2,500-liter oak barrels The 2023 Emilio Moro Bestizo has the typical cherry red color. The bouquet is fresh and elegant, with a predominance of red and stone fruits: peach and cherry. It has delicate spicy and floral notes. In the mouth it is light and balanced, with a pleasant palate, full of personality, with a mild and very pleasant aftertaste. With a few years the wine will become even more complex.
