2024 Sadie Family Treinspoor

Eben Sadie is considered a pioneer in South African viticulture. His insights can be said to have completely changed the way the Swartland region was perceived. It was Eben who discovered the mature vineyards here and produced his renowned Columella and Palladius. Like all Sadie Family wines, this Treinspoor is a rare, superb wine with impressive aging potential. Like its older sibling, this Treinspoor is made from Tinta Barocca. In the glass, the wine has a bright ruby-red color with a nose that slowly unfolds. It has a captivating bouquet of raspberry, cranberry leaf, tobacco, and moist, wet clay aromas, along with plenty of spice, such as clove, nutmeg, and a hint of pepper. This is followed by a good spicy flavor with fine acidity and refined tannins. The wine has firm tannins that are somewhat comparable to Barolo and Barberesco from Piedmont.
