Vines have taken root everywhere, penetrating deeply into the three types of limestone typical of this appellation: blond clay (in the west) and red clay (Agen Molasse in the east) on fossilized limestone plateaus, and creamy white clay (Fronsac Molasse) that forms the east-facing terraces and west-facing slopes.
