- Description
Jordan Wines Assyrtiko 2025 is a remarkably fresh and tightly structured white wine that combines the Mediterranean character of Assyrtiko with the cool precision for which Jordan Wines is known. This wine demonstrates how this grape variety, originally from Greece, can also display a distinctive and terroir-driven style outside its native habitat. The wine is unique, as it is primarily found on Santorini. Garry Jordan got married there and was so impressed, especially by the excellent acidity, that he established a small vineyard around his house using 100% Assyrtiko, and the result is truly exceptional. Always very, very rare. Color, smell and taste In the glass, the wine displays a clear, light straw yellow color with greenish reflections. The nose is clean and refined, with aromas of citrus peel, lime, green apple, and white peach, complemented by subtle floral notes and a slightly salty, mineral impression. On the palate, the wine is taut and energetic, with lively acidity that provides tension and length. Flavors of citrus, crisp apple, and a hint of spice are supported by a dry, precise structure. The finish is fresh, mineral, and slightly salty, giving the wine a distinctly gastronomic character. Grape varieties and vineyards This wine is made from 100% Assyrtiko grapes. The grapes come from carefully selected plots optimally suited for preserving freshness and natural acidity. The combination of soil and climate contributes to the mineral and taut profile so characteristic of this wine. Harvest, vinification and maturation After harvest, the grapes are gently pressed in a small basket press. The juice then undergoes two days of cold settling. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks to preserve the pure, varietal character of the Assyrtiko. After fermentation, the wine is aged for four months on its fine lees, which adds texture and subtlety without sacrificing freshness. Professional reviews The wine was awarded 86 points by the Platter Wine Guide 2025 , which emphasized the fresh style, tension and purity of this Assyrtiko. Drinking window This Assyrtiko is appealing to drink young for its freshness and precision, but can also age for several years in bottle. A drinking window of approximately 2025 to 2029 is realistic, depending on personal preference
