Novicium - A wine so named because it is the ongoing study and exploration of Continuum's Sage Mountain Vineyard in Napa Valley. Continuum was founded in 2005 by Tim (Timothy) Mondavi, his father Robert Mondavi and his sister Marcia and their families. The vineyards are located on Pritchard Hill in the Vaca Mountains in Napa Valley. The 2019 Continuum Novicium is Tim Mondavi's 2nd wine, but actually we don't do the wine the justice it deserves. The Novicum is mainly the wine that is more accessible than its big brother the Continuum, but also a different style. A bit fresher and more elegant if we have to summarize the difference in 2 words. The wine is approachable with a fresh and playful nose of red fruit and candied apple mixed with autumn leaves, laurel and some cedar. The Novicum is a lively and on the palate dark chocolate, black fruit, spices and tapenade. Both gentle and powerful, with the mineral core of Sage Mountain Vineyard and the clearly expressed structure and finish that the Continuum are so famous for. 96/100 Suckling.
