  • Description
Château Latour from Pauillac withdrew a few years ago from the Bordeaux trading system of immediately after harvesting and offering a first to the market. They now release a vintage from their cellars every year that they think is perfect to enjoy now and for years to come. Although a monument such as Château Latour can of course still be preserved for a very long time. The 2014 vintage was only offered by the Château in March 2022. 97+/100 Parker and 99/100 Suckling The 2014 Latour is one of the best wines from a vintage that favored the northern Médoc. The 2014 Latour is a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9.25% Merlot, 0.5% Cabernet Franc and 0.25% Petit Verdot. Blending aromas of wild berries and cassis with hints of cigar paper, loamy soil, black truffles and stylish new oak, it is full, rich and concentrated, the broad attack leads to a deep, tightly wound mid-palate framed by powdery, chalky tannins and clear acidity, ending with a long, mouth-watering finish. This classically balanced, youthfully structured young wine appears to have a prodigious longevity. It's reminiscent of a modern take on a cooler vintage like 1996, although of course the maturity is more complete these days and the selection is even stricter than it was two decades ago
