The vineyards are owned by the Lunelli family on the slopes of the mountains above Trento. This is a special wine that sets the bar very high for all Italian sparkling wines. The 2008 Trento Metodo Classico Extra Brut Giulio Ferrari Riserva del Fondatore (dergorged in 2020) walks a careful line between elegance and power. Aged on the lees for a full 10 years, it emerges with a silky texture and finely tuned aromas of apricot, Golden Delicious apple, honey, pie crust and crushed wet pebbles. This fine and elegant sparkling wine spreads evenly across the palate with fine bubbles and a creamy texture. The cool 2008 vintage will gain even more weight and intensity with age.
