- Description
The House of Louis Roederer and the Search for Purity Louis Roederer is one of France's oldest and most respected Champagne houses, founded in 1776 in Reims. The family-owned company is known for its pursuit of perfection and its focus on terroir-driven wines. With over 240 hectares of its own vineyards, Roederer can control the quality of each grape from start to finish. The result is Champagnes that combine precision, elegance, and excitement. The Brut Nature line is a modern interpretation of the house's classic style, where purity and natural expression take center stage. The collaboration between Louis Roederer and Philippe Starck The Brut Nature collection is the result of a unique collaboration between winemaker Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon and French designer Philippe Starck. Their shared vision is clear: to create a Champagne that captures the essence of the vintage without frills or unnecessary additions. Starck not only designed the signature minimalist bottle but also helped shape the concept. The Brut Nature Rosé 2018 is the latest edition of this collaboration and embodies precision, freshness, and an honest representation of the terroir. The harvest and character of 2018 2018 was an exceptional year in Champagne. The summer was warm and sunny, but the cool nights kept the acidity vibrant. The grapes reached perfect ripeness, resulting in wines with depth, ripe fruit, and a taut, mineral undertone. These conditions were ideal for a Brut Nature style, where no dosage is added. The year produced wines with expressive aromatic richness and a remarkable sense of balance and purity. Composition and vinification of the Brut Nature Rosé 2018 The 2018 Brut Nature Rosé is composed of approximately 55% Pinot Noir, 25% Pinot Meunier, and 20% Chardonnay. Some of the Pinot Noir was briefly macerated to extract color and aromas, while the remaining grapes were fermented using the infusion method, which preserves the soft and delicate rosé color. The wine is entirely dosage-free (0 g/L), meaning no sugar is added after the secondary fermentation. The base wines are aged partly in oak barrels and partly in stainless steel, giving the final blend complexity without losing its freshness. Malolactic fermentation is deliberately avoided to preserve the pure character of the grapes. Color, smell and taste The Champagne displays a refined salmon pink color with coppery highlights and a lively, fine mousse. The nose reveals aromas of raspberry, blood orange, white peach, and a hint of pink pepper, followed by subtle notes of brioche and chalk. On the palate, the wine is taut, mineral, and refined, with remarkable tension. The palate is fresh and lively, with nuances of red fruit, citrus, and almond. The finish is long, precise, and slightly salty—a characteristic typical of Louis Roederer's Brut Nature style. Expected availability The Louis Roederer Brut Nature Rosé 2018 is being released in a limited edition and is expected to be available in November 2025. This edition also features the signature bottle and packaging designed by Philippe Starck. The Brut Nature Rosé 2018 promises to be one of the house's most expressive and refined Champagnes, a perfect balance of energy, elegance, and depth. The 2018 Brut Nature is the successor to the 2015 and is already being compared to the legendary 1999. Would you like to order Louis Roederer wines online?
