Charmes Chambertin 2024 joseph Drouhin

A Grand Cru Pinot Noir from the Côte de Nuits, this Charmes-Chambertin comes from joseph Drouhin during a year that presented many challenges for growers. Although buds began to sprout early due to the warm weather of February and March, the risk of frost damage returned in April as the weather turned cold starting on the 18th. Downy mildew also reduced yields, and only grapes that had undergone a rigorous sorting process at harvest were accepted into the winery. Most of the red wines underwent a three-week maceration period (the time the skins and juice remain in contact) before being aged in 30% new oak barrels. Frédéric Drouhin oversees this winery and has expanded its operations by acquiring two vineyards totaling nearly 50 acres. This wine is best enjoyed between 2023 and 2038; if opening a young bottle, decanting is recommended
