Volnay Clos de Barre 2024 Louis Jadot

Clos de la Barre is a monopole, a 1er Cru parcel within Volnay, owned by a single owner, and Louis Jadot makes this red Burgundy from organically grown Pinot Noir in the Côte de Beaune.2024 was a challenging year for many growers in this region. The season was dominated by rain, with minor frost damage, poor flowering, mildew pressure, and a lack of sunlight. Warm, dry weather during the first two weeks of August accelerated ripening, and thanks to a brief spell of good weather, harvesting began on the 13th of September. That year, chaptalization, the addition of sugar to grape must before fermentation, was widely practiced throughout the region. According to the tasting notes: It offers aromas of red berries and cherries, with subtle floral notes. Medium-bodied with a rich flavor profile, the tannins are soft and fine-grained, the acidity is refreshing, and the finish is long and clean. It is enjoyable now, but it is even better after about an hour of decanting. It is best enjoyed between 2026 and 2042
