The desert rose scientific name Adenium obesum is a striking plant which ha succulent stems and deep red flowers. In cooler winters, the plant is deciduous. These plants are native to East African and Arabian natives and they are great for interior container garden. These plants are commonly called Alamandas, Oleanders and Frangipanis. It also resembles the cluster of rose petals and its colors can range from white, pink, red, purple to lavender. These are easy to grow and unique plants.   • It requires well drained succulent mix which has an ideal Ph around 6 that is slightly acidic.

How to plant


  • Typically propagation of this plant is by seed.
  • So if the plant develops a seed pod, you must plant the seeds as soon as possible once the pod ripens, this maximizes the chance of germination.
  • Once the seeds germinate you can move it to pot in about a month.
  • It can also be propagated through branch cuttings.
  • Repot should be done when needed preferably during the warm season.
  • When you repot this plant make sure the soil is dry before removing the plant.
  • It is not difficult to grow this play if it gets enough sunlight and warmth.
  • It can be grown from seeds or stem cuttings. 

Maintenance and Care
